Case study

Yorkshire County Cricket Club

Our team replaced the vehicle barrier system at the Yorkshire County Cricket Club in Leeds. The project involved upgrading outdated and unreliable barriers with new automatic systems to improve reliability, safety and vehicle flow (particularly on busy match days).

About the client

Yorkshire County Cricket Club is one of the most recognisable and historic names in British sport, hosting both domestic and international fixtures at Headingley Stadium. The venue welcomes thousands of visitors each season and relies on smooth vehicle movement and secure site access to offer a positive experience for players, staff and fans.

Over time, the club’s existing car park barriers had become faulty and outdated, having been in place for over a decade. To maintain high operational standards, the club looked to onboard a reliable replacement solution from a trusted provider.

The challenge

The challenge The existing car park barrier system at the club was installed more than a decade ago and had reached the end of its service life. The barriers themselves had become increasingly unreliable, with faults causing delays and operational disruption – particularly during peak match-day traffic.

Replacement parts were becoming difficult to source, and maintenance costs were also rising, so an upgraded system was the answer. The chosen solution needed to cope with the high frequency of vehicle movements, reduce downtime and meet modern safety standards – at the same time making sure the venue remained accessible during installation.

Client objectives

Yorkshire County Cricket Club were looking for a modern barrier solution that would:

  • Allow faster and smoother entry and exit, particularly on match days
  • Prevent tailgating and improve overall site security
  • Provide a reliable system with minimal downtime and easy access to spare parts
  • Offer long-term support from a trusted and experienced installer

The solution

Our engineers were appointed to deliver the upgrade, supplying and installing FAAC automatic barriers, a trusted and robust solution known for its performance and longevity.

Having used FAAC products for many years, our expert team were able to provide multiple client references from commercial and industrial sites across the UK, giving Yorkshire County Cricket Club confidence in both the equipment and our team’s technical capability.

The installation process

We delivered the project in just four days, following a structured process designed to minimise disruption:

removal of existing equipment

EA safely removed the two existing barriers and all associated cabling, which had been installed more than ten years earlier.

Installation of new infrastructure

New cabling and control equipment were installed to support the new FAAC barrier systems, providing compliance with modern safety and performance standards.

Barrier installation and commissioning

The new FAAC automatic barriers were fitted, configured, and tested. At least one entrance remained operational throughout the works to maintain site access.

system handover and training

We provided the system, a full demonstration to the client, and trained the security team. Custom desktop control panels were also supplied for the central security building.
