Case study

Swan Court

Main entrances are one of the most important architectural features of a building. They influence first impressions, control pedestrian flow, and impact energy efficiency. At Swan Court, the existing curved sliding door had reached the end of its service life, becoming noisy, difficult to maintain and no longer performing to modern standards. They chose our team of experts to remove the old system and install a new entrance that would restore both function and style.

About the client

Swan Court is a prominent office building in the UK. The building’s main entrance had served the many visitors for years but was showing signs of wear. The client wanted a modern replacement that would improve both aesthetics and performance, at the same time, having a reliable replacement for years to come.

The challenge

The original curved sliding door at Swan Court had been in use for many years and was increasingly problematic. It’d become noisy, unreliable and costly to maintain, with frequent repairs no longer offering a lasting solution. On top of this, the door’s poor performance was also affecting the building’s energy efficiency, allowing draughts to enter the lobby and reducing comfort for staff and visitors.

Swan Court wanted a replacement that would provide smooth, quiet operation, deliver long-term reliability, and meet current safety standards – whilst at the same time elevate the appearance of the building’s main entrance.

Client objectives

Swan Court’s key objectives were to:

  • Replace the tired entrance with a reliable, quiet sliding door system
  • Make sure there was minimal disruption during installation
  • Integrate the new system easily with the existing structure
  • Improve energy efficiency and weather performance
  • Maintain compliance with BS-EN16005 safety standards
